Home Sweet? Home
Monday we drove back home and it still seems so weird to me that we're no longer on the boat. While I'm completely ensconced here, I still feel like something is missing.
Last year I made a post about how I felt about leaving the boat to go home, but I feel this year has been so much harder because of all the lovely people I got to meet. Some I will definitely be seeing again, but many will be going their own ways and I probably won't get to hear from them ever again.
This summer really was a great experience for me and I'm definitely sad it's over. It does make me that much more excited for what's in store for next year, although I know we won't get to meet nearly as many people since we'll be traveling so much.
Moving home was a big push for me to get a lot done, though too. For example, my room has been a huge mess for probably around 3 years. Kind of crazy and definitely not great especially since I do my school work here. But, the past few days I've spent cleaning and it looks great and is far more comfortable.
I do honestly apologize for all the craziness going on around here, I swear we will be back to posting regularly here soon. I know I say that pretty much every post, but I do mean it! Thanks for sticking with us through this crazy summer.

Little Britches Review
Little Britches by Ralph Moody (Goodreads)
Published 1950
I loved this book. I'm generally not a fan of autobiographies, but I honestly didn't know it was one until I sat down to write this. The independence displayed by an 8 year-old as well as all his adventures are so interesting to read about.
Characters:
The characters are well-rounded and extremely complex. Other than his younger siblings, they're all complementary and crucial to the story.
Writing Style:
At some points, this story was really slow and it took me a while to get through. Since it's an autobiography, I feel there wasn't really a climax, but instead many short stories together with their own climaxes.
General Comments:
Although I felt some parts were slow moving, I did enjoy this book and am definitely looking into reading the sequels.

Recent Reads
I've done a lot of reading during the past 3 weeks. About 14 books to be more exact- the weather has just been so crappy. It also helps that we've befriended one of the dock hands here and she just keeps loaning me books.

The requirements I have for really, really liking a brand is being local, handmade, and cruelty free. It's extremely uncommon, however, to find a company that meets all these requirements.
Flyover Press meets all of the relevant requirements, so you can imagine my surprise when I came across them. A Midwest company selling hand made products that are also extremely cute and affordable? Yup. Totally real.
I was sent a Tailgate Bow for review & was not disappointed. Although it was sewn slightly uneven, the bow isn't flimsy and you can tell it wasn't made cheaply. It's also way cute and I definitely foresee it appearing a lot in my future outfits!
They also sent a sticker with the bow that absolutely made my day (Katie and I have a teensy obsession with stickers) and now I just have to decide where to place it.
Some of my other favorite products include the Gettin' Naut-y Sweatshirt. It features 5 flags nautical flags (Mike-India-Delta-Whiskey-Echo-Sierra-Tango) spelling out Midwest. I think it would be great for chillier evenings out here on the boat.
I'm also a fan of the Heartland Tank Top that features all 12 Midwest states forming a heart. Totally patriotic!
Overall I love the company and will definitely be ordering some more products!

Cassi's August Goals
I haven’t done monthly goals in what feels like forever, though
I’m sure it hasn’t been that long. So in
my normal fashion, I’ve decided to make them half way through the month.
My August Goals:
1. Post more often! I
was supposed to start that this month, but with drivers’ ed daily I’ve had
absolutely zero motivation.
2. Drink more water.
My face is breaking out really bad and it had been clear throughout
July. Although there are many factors that
have changed, I’m hoping this will help.
3. Start my prep work for school. Scantron opens soon for me and I can start
getting organized so the beginning of September won’t be as stressful.
4. Stretch and continue my ab workouts. July was great with 8 hours of dance, 4 days
a week, for 4 weeks, but I’ve kind of taken a break. It was nice, but it’s a good idea to get back
into shape for when classes begin again.

We're Back!
We’re back!
Finally! We do want
to take a minute to apologize again for our lack of posts lately. If you don’t already know, Cassandra was at a
dance intensive most of July and Kaitlyn has been traveling (some more on that
later). When we got down time, we used
it to really rest, since we didn’t get much time to do that. We’re so happy to be back and posting!
New Design
We posted about it earlier, and you’ve probably seen, but we
just wanted to touch on it once more.
Cassandra made the entire thing herself, using Sarah’s incredible tutorials!

We’ve decided to have more of a schedule for posts now,
since everything has been rather sporadic.
For August, we will be mainly posting Monday-Friday, 3-5 times
weekly. The weekends will be left open
